Capetown Wedding Floristry Part 1

Flower Arch, XXX CT

Capetown is well known for international weddings. People come from all over the world to get married in this special place. Often the location is a beautiful vineyard or even at the beach. It’s difficult to choose a location, there are so many pretty places.

Before going to CT I reached out to florists and I received a few positive answers. So I got the opportunity to work with several florists over those many times I went to CT.

While I was working on these kinds of weddings I would sometimes see the bride before. I loved to see those magical moments when the bride sees her bouquet for the first time. There’s something special about it, it’s completing the bride.

Getting up at 4am and not being an early bird was for me a totally new experience. The locations, views and working with beautiful flowers made it worth all the effort.

Of course it’s not just all easy-breezy work you have to sweep the floor, lift heavy buckets or go on a leather 3 meters high. The sweetest was one elderly man, he used to be a florist for a long time and bring every time his kettle to make tea for everyone served along with cookies. He used to be a ballet dancer and so you could see it in the way he was moving. Sometimes a little pirouette would be done to handover a flower. He was also very funny and we had to laugh a lot.

To sum it all up, it takes always a fun team to make it a wonderful experience. And the cherry on top are the beautiful locations!
These flower adventures made me realize I want more of it! And that’s how my flower journey started…
